Mantis Geophysics — Web App Documentation
The Mantis web application provides a suite of tools for geophysical simulation and modelling. It combines a frequency-dependent and anisotropic rock physics modeller, a fluid substitution engine, an anisotropic Zoeppritz reflectivity explorer, and a 2D finite-difference seismic forward modelling engine — all accessible through a browser.
What you can do
- Rock physics modelling — define in-situ conditions, run Gassmann fluid substitution, model fracture anisotropy (Hudson 1980) and frequency-dependent attenuation (Standard Linear Solid)
- Reflectivity analysis — calculate halfspace reflection and transmission coefficients at any layer interface, including viscoelastic (frequency-dependent) and anisotropic media
- 2D seismic forward modelling — submit finite-difference simulations on your 1D Earth model and download synthetic seismograms, wavefield snapshots, and run logs
- Elastic tensor diagnostics — inspect and validate full anisotropic elastic tensors and compute slowness surfaces
- Data file management — upload CSV and LAS files to import well log data into projects
How to use these docs
| Section | What it covers |
|---|---|
| Logging in | Signing in, MFA, password reset, navigation bar, data files |
| Projects | Creating and managing projects, rock physics, reflectivity, and wave modelling |
| Exploration mode | Using the app outside of a saved project |
| APIs | REST API endpoints for programmatic access |
| Authentication | OAuth2 flows and API key setup for developer access |
Roadmap
Features currently in development:
- 3D frequency-dependent, fully triclinic anisotropic seismic forward modelling engine
- Viscoelastic phase/reflectivity seismic inversion
- 2D and 3D visualisation tools for seismic attribute maps and well logs
- Cross-plotting tool for viscoelastic and anisotropic attributes
- Dry modulus modeller for clastic and carbonate rocks
Planned for a later release:
- Geomechanical modeller coupled to the seismic forward modelling engine
- Reservoir simulator coupled to the seismic forward modelling engine
- North Sea and Norwegian Continental Shelf data access
